my review of "3 idiots"

3 idiots was a wonderful experience. A film based on the fabulous novel "5 point someone", a film with aamir in it, a movie made by Rajkumar Hirani, a movie polished up for almost half an year had to be this good.it's a 3 hour mind blasting entertainment package which u mustn't miss.plus it has something to say to our educational institutions.

the story-line of the movie has fortunately not so much been copied from "5 point someone".it rather is a marvelously carved story-line which covers almost all those parts and feelings of the novel which were linked with the moral of the movie.but for the fun portion, they have removed almost all the portions from the novel.there is no love making at the home of the professor, no student being caught up by the professor wearing his shirt after making love with her daughter, no drinking of vodka before viva, no C2D.these rather have been replaced by some others like ALL IZZ WELL, the electrified spoon, and the teacher's day speech of course.it was a good idea as the most of the youth have already read the novel and they had to be given something new.

in the basic story line, though there is no much flaws, but few parts have been adjusted or made impractical.for example the main focus is always on aamir like a single hero, instead of the 3 stories running altogather.another thing adjusted here is the story of piya's brother.it would be heart-toching if a 2-3 min flash back would have been shown along with the dictation of the letter written by him before suiciding. it would speak of the enormous pressure on students preparing for jee and then their depression after not being selected. here this story is only told verbally which isn't quite convincing.in the same way feelings didn't quite come during raju's suicide attempt.but OK...these were bearable as length too had to be taken care of.the back drop story of rancho's true identity and going missing is little exaggeration. the story of ryan's anti with his parents is avoided which is good. The end is another nicely shown part where u see what future we can get if we build educational schools as rancho did.

the characters of raju, farhan and rancho are realistic, though are hardly similar to those in "5 point someone".they have acted in their very natural way.i feel, there were other better choices for piya, but this can be because i personally dont like kareena.boman is the best choice for the character of dean.venkat here is omi who is another nice selection.u may find rancho as the engineering munna bhai but that is due to the common moral of the 2 movies-" make education more practical and natural instead of imposing theoretical load on students".also, u may find rancho the grown up Ishaan Nand Kishor Avasthi.

over all, 3 IDIOTS is a wonderful depiction of "5 point someone" with some changes, but with better replacements.it's not just "5 point someone" depicted, but at core, nor does it miss "5 point someone". as expected, aamir has hardly left things un-perfectionised.chetan bhagat must be glad to see it.the rolling comedy hits won't let you leave unsatisfied.
